Paper Craft Crew #27

Hi Everyone,

It's time for this week's challenge at the Paper Craft Crew.  I hope this weeks sketch and my card inspires you to come and join in the fun.

Here is the sketch we are playing with this week.

Card Sketch #27

This is what I've made using Fabulous You, Feeling Sentimental and Itty Bitties Stamp sets.

My Colour scheme is Raspberry Ripple, Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake.  I've also used First Edition Dsp on my card which has been embossed through the Lacy Brocade folder.   I've inked inside the  folder with Crumb Cake Ink on the inner front (side the logo is printed on), before putting the paper in to run through the Big Shot.  I've also used the same folder on my Basic Black strip across the top of my card.  I've cut my Crumb Cake card with the Top Notes die, trimmed it to the size needed for my panel and then embossed it with the Square Lattice folder.  The shoe is from the Stamp Set Fabulous You.  I've stamped the image with versamark ink onto Raspberry Ripple card and then sprinkled a mix of Dazzling Diamonds and Heat and Stick Powder onto the image and heat set it, then cut it out.  You will also notice the small size in the bottle tops, which is a new product from our upcoming Seasonal catalogue.  I've run mine through the Big Shot to flatten it slightly and remove those sharp edges and layered a flower from the Boho Blossom punch (in the absence of the right size circle as yet) with an image of a bag from the Itty Bitties stamp set which is also punched out using the small round punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack.  My greeting "Celebrate" comes from the Feeling Sentimental SAB set which is also punched and layered.

I really hope you've enjoyed stopping by for a visit.  Please feel free to comment as I love hearing from you.

I'm looking forward to more of you joining in our challenge and I can't wait to see what you do with the sketch this week.

Have a great day.

Just Add Ink #150

Hello Everyone,

I've had a chance for a quick play for the sketch challenge this week at Just Add Ink.

Here is the sketch

I've decided I wanted to try out the Blackboard Technique and feature new products from the Seasonal Catalogue. Also I have a team member turning 40, so I've combined everything for this Easel card and taken some creative license which is loosely based on the sketch above.  Here is my card.

New products used include More Amore Designer Series Paper, Hearts a Flutter Bundle, Designer Builder Brads, Flower Trim and Bottle Top (squashed a little through the Big Shot.  The Stamps used are Vintage Verses, Itty Bitties and Memorable Moments.  I've also used Tulip Border and Lacy Brocade Embossing Folders.

Here is a closer look at the banners across the top of the card and also the Bottle Top (I just can't get used to the Soda Pop name).   I'm really happy with my card, just need to work on my photography skills, LOL.

Thanks for popping in to see my card.  I hope you'll leave me a comment.

Freshly Made Sketches #70

Hello Everyone,

Well we haven't been washed or blown away yet, although the elements were trying very hard here in Queensland.  I've managed to make this card to join in with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

When I saw the sketch, I didn't want to change a thing.  I really wanted to use a Butterfly on my card and I've chosen the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die.  I've also stamped with Everything Eleanor on the Crumb Cake base with Razzleberry Ink and on the Butterflies with Whisper White Ink and then embossed the butterflies with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  The paper is from the Sycamore Street Sale-a-bration pack.  I've added some pearls to the swirls and a Flower Trim brushed with ink to the Butterfly centre.  The greeting is from the set Curly Cute.

Here is a closer look at the pearl detail:-

Here is the sketch below:-

Thanks so much for stopping by to view my card.  I hope you'll leave me some comments.

A wet and soggy Australia Day

Hello from a very wet and soggy South East Queenslander,

Happy Australia Day to you all.  I hope wherever you are you are safe.  This is not at all our usual Australia Day celebration weather, fine and sunny for the most part.  We've had severe weather warnings coming right down the Queensland Coastline for the last few days since ex tropical Cyclone Oswald struck and its made quite an impact.  We've had rain for a couple of days now.

You have to take the good with the bad I say.  It's the first decent rain we've had in 7 months and our tanks are full to overflowing which is great news.  The extreme heat has dropped to a more comfortable level and we could actually have a long soak in a deep bath last night.  That in itself is quite a novalty when you normally have to have a 2 minute shower to conserve water.  On the whole, we are pretty lucky where we live, as our home won't be affected by flooding.

Also it was my Mum's birthday today and we got to catch up briefly for morning tea.  If the weather was better it would have been a much longer celebration, but as with all Australia Day celebrations that were cancelled on the Sunshine Coast today, we had to keep it short because of the weather.  They needed to be able to drive safely without fear of being caught in any floodwaters.  We still got to enjoy Custard Slice and a Passionfruit Iced Sponge Cake, Mums favourites.

The bad news was almost immediately after they left, the wind picked up and we lost power for 5 hours.  When it was restored  my husband had to go check on his elderly parents whose power didn't come back when ours did.  More heavy rain is expected here overnight.  We are still bracing for the worst of it as it slowly travels down further on it's way to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Rather than share my Mum's Birthday card, which has featured before as I made it several months ago here, I thought I would show you some Thank you cards that I made especially this week to be passed on to the head of my SU Team, based in Brisbane.  Liz is a lovely and generous lady with 4 children and in a shocking road accident, lost her husband recently.  Other members of the Paper Angels will also be making some Thank You cards and her closest team members are collecting them up to give her, so they're available as she needs them.  Other members who live a little closer are volunteering  to deliver the odd meal and organise activities/outings for the children.  These small gestures may be a big help to Liz over the next few months.

It was very sad to here Liz's news, but I hope in some small way these cards will be useful to her and be of some small comfort to know that we care.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #26

Hello Everyone,

Here is this week's sketch for the Paper Craft Crew and if you like, an added colour challenge which is optional.  Challenge colours are Regal Rose, Bashful Blue and Daffodil Delight if you would like to play along.

I've decided to make my card based on the sketch only, so I can use my new products and not be restricted to the colours of the challenge.  Here is my Wedding Easel Card using the Hearts a Flutter Bundle and the More Amore Specialty Designer Series paper available from the upcoming Seasonal Catalogue on 1st February.

I've also used the Flower Trim and the Paper Doily from the catalogue and the stamps Teeny Tiny Sentiments and Word Play from the greetings.  Here is a better look at the flowers and framelit cut hearts.

The cardstock used is Pool Party and Very Vanilla with some Core'dination card in Primrose Petals.  The embossing folders used are Lacy Brocade and Adorning Accents.

Thanks so much for stopping by to view my card.  I hope you will join us in this weeks challenge at the Paper Craft Crew.

Lara's 3rd Birthday

Hi Everyone,

We've had a very busy weekend, with my first class of the year on Saturday and my niece Lara's 3rd Birthday today.  She lives in Brisbane so we've spent over 3 hours travelling back and forth.

Being a 3 year old and a little girl, she loves her fairytales and is also going through a Princess phase.  She's actually had 2 Birthday parties this year, a Princess Party for all her little friends to dress up and the family party which was today.

In keeping with the theme, I made her a card fit for a little Princess and my girls also made her some cakes for the party.

Although the stamped images are not SU, and I've also used some non SU papers from my stash, you may notice some very definate added SU touches.

I've made the sun in the corner with 2 punches - the circle and the small tab on the ticket punch for the rays and I've used the Memorable moments set and Label Framelits on the base of my easel card.  I've used the Silver Glimmer Paper for the Crown and the star on the wand, and of course I've used SU cardstock - Rose Red, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.

My Girls had to make these Froggie Cakes for the Party to go with the theme.

My daughters have a sense of humour.  This poor guy looks like he's been drinking.
Here is a picture of the Birthday Girl, and also my girls looking on at their cousin.

These cakes were loved by all, young and young at heart, but what a sugar overload.  The birthday cake in the picture one above is also surrounded by lolly sticks.

Here is one last pic of Lara rocking out on her drum kit, her favourite present of the day, and she certainly entertained us.

Paper Craft Crew #25

Hello Everyone,

Well it's sunny and hot here in Queensland, Australia for my second post as part of the Paper Craft Crew Design Team.  I hope it's not too cold for you where you are at the moment.

My pre-order of goodies arrived during the week and I was able to have a play with the Hearts a Flutter Bundle available from the Seasonal catalogue (in Australia from February 1st), plus a few other new goodies.  This week we have a colour challenge along with the sketch challenge at the Paper Craft Crew.

Here are the details of the challenge.  I've used the sketch and the Colours for my Card.

Color Challenge #3
Color Challenge Blogs

videogram cover imageThe colours for the challenge are Basic Gray, Melon Mambo and Old Olive.  Here is the card I've made and as you can see, I altered the sketch slightly to make a square card.  I've used the Hearts a Flutter Bundle which includes stamps and Framelits and I've also used stamp set Thats the Ticket with the co-ordinating punch from the Annual Catalogue and teamed it with a new Build a Brad.  Alternate corners of my squares are rounded off and I've used the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder and also  the Dotted Ribbon Border punch.  If you have a look below, I've used the sketch again without the challenge with some Sale-a-bration product for a workshop sample.

Here is a second card I've made just with the sketch.

This card has an Island Indigo base with cardstock of Summer Starfruit and Pool Party.  I've used the Bitty Butterfly Punch and the Itty Bitty Banners, Sycamore Street Designer Papers and co-ordinating ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Why don't you pop over to the Paper Craft Crew and view the other samples made by the Design Team.  We hope you can join us in the challenge this week.

The Paper Players #128

Hi Everyone,

This week it's a colour challenge at the Paper Players

Digging through my stash of products to find the correct colours I found I had some retired Dsp to fit the bill, namely Flirtatious and Beyond the Garden dsps.

Here is my card
I've combined a little old and new for my card.  I've used the Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Build a Brads, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Paper Doily and Oh Hello Stamp set (greeting) on my card all from the Seasonal Catalogue with Elegant Butterfly punch and the retired papers.  The cardstock is Basic Gray, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight per the colour challenge.  I also stamped my greeting with Pacific Point ink, directly onto the dsp which made it look a little greener.

Thanks so much for stopping by to view my card.  Please leave me a little blog love as I enjoy reading your comments.

Create with Connie and Mary Colour Challenge #234

Hello Everyone,

I think the heatwave we've experienced over the last week has finally broken and we've had a weather change this afternoon.  Thank goodness, there is even a breeze.  It's made it much more pleasant to sit and do my cardmaking.

Here is my card for the latest challenge at Create with Connie and Mary

It's a Framelit Topper Easel card made with Label Framelit, My Friend Stamp Set, Woodgrain Background Stamp, Papillon Potpourri Stamps and punches Bitty Butterfly, Elegant Butterfly and Dotted Ribbon Border.

The Colours for the challenge are:-2012 Create Thursday-014

Pink Pirouette, Midnight Muse and Whisper White.

I've used the Pink Pirouette card for the base of my Easel card and for the punched Bitty Butterflies and I also used that colour ink for the woodgrain background stamp too.

If you aren't familiar with a Topper Easel here is the side on view

And here is another angle photo.  Can you pick up the woodgrain?  It's very subtle.

Thanks so much for stopping in for a look.  Thanks for leaving a comment.  I really appreciate receiving them.

Another Sneak Peek for Valentine's Day

Hi Everyone,

Well my pre-order arrived with lovely new goodies from the upcoming Seasonal Mini, plus a few more Sale-a-bration products which I've featured on a card to show you.  I've made this card as a Valentines's Day Card, but you could use it for a different occasion by simply changing the greeting.

This card features papers & die cut the More Amore Specialty Designer Paper pack, the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder and the Pretty Petites Stamp set and matching Mini curly label punch from Sale-a-bration 2013.

I've also included one of my favourite Butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set with the matching Elegant Butterfly Punch.  The base and top layer of the card is Very Vanilla Cardstock and the accents are also stamped on Very Vanilla and the banner trimmers are cut from Pool Party card.  The inks are Primrose Pink and Basic Gray and the large heart is a die cut from the Paper pack.
Here is a closer look where I've used the new mini Curly Label punch.

Thanks for looking.  Have a great day.
